treehugger.com — After analyzing 50 million laser measurements from a NASA satellite, British scientists at the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) have painted a frightening picture for Greenland, with ice sheets melting at extreme rates.

You are an idiot, absolutely. What's amazing is that temperatures haven't dropped, even given the decreased solar activity. What's amazing is that there's clearly something other than solar activity at work in influencing our climate. You say temperatures are cooler? Only relatively speaking. Only when you consider the past decade of record highs. And yes, you're right in saying that the cooler temperatures are attributable to lower solar activity, but you're completely failing to take into account that if solar activity were the only factor here, temperatures would've been much cooler still. When you have a major drop in solar activity, and only a minor dip in temperatures, especially when we've observed solar activity decreasing and temperatures continuing to increase, how can that not make you pause for thought?

"There is definitely ice in the newsreel also, but it says "Arctic winter ice 25 ft. thick."Why the "but"? You see your original photo has no ice around it. The report from National Geographic records and the newsreel all speak of and show images of thick. Really their is no "if" "and" or "but" to it; your first link is an attempt to substantiate a false claim.

As long as Kevin Kostner is still around, I think we'll be alright.

There are all kinds of lasers, Dexter, and not all of them are the "burn up everything in sight" kind.

Solar Minimum.I obviously think the planet is being polluted to the point where it will take drastic action to fix itself, but even the counter to that argument should not preclude us from cleaning up after our messes, including pumping noxious gasses into the atmo, and destroying every ecosystem we see.But despite all of that and any evidence on either side, one point remains.Scientists cant even reliably predict what the weather is going to be like in an hour - how could any of them nail down prevailing trends based on 200-300 years of circumstantial data? That's one thing that I must concede. Despite science's advances - it knows precisely DICK.Use your heads. Use your logic. 2+2 = 4. regardless of what some PhD says, If we take carbon from under the ground, catalyze it, and put the byproducts in the Atmo, it's going to have an effect - just like if we pump toxic chemicals into the waterways, and then eat the fish that come from them, we're going to be contaminated with those same chemicals...The evidence is not that difficult to understand, nor is it insurmountable. My 4 year old niece can grasp this concept.

I'd go ahead and call health care reform as the biggest scam of all time, but I might be denying Goldman Sachs some due credit.Let's just say it's the biggest scam until the next one comes out.Oh yeah, global warming as a psychotic political stunt to leverage a tax is a scam.Global warming as a psychotic stunt to kick our heroin (oil) addiction and invest in a sustainable society is certainly not.Quit putting all your faith in government, they can't do anything except perpetrate scams. Real change will have to come from us people.

l"Pease tell me when man has EVER controlled the weather."Right now. Not intentionally or with fore thought and planning but human activity is having measurable effect on CLIMATE." know there are a lot of high flying ideas on how we might INFLUENCE weather, but we could never hope to control a system so large and complicated."Argument from Incredulity. Logic Fail.
