The amazing image was taken by NASA's Chandra X-ray observatory, which is orbiting 580km above the Earth.

Seeing some of these comments just makes me want to become an astronomer and arbitrarily put the word "God" in every constellation, nebula, star or any heavenly body I find just to piss of militant atheists. The God's crab nebula or the Super dimensionally spirally delta God Galaxy.

Probably for the same reason people think Ursa Major looks like a bear. It just kinda looks like it. I would doubt even the religious people would actually think it's god...it's just an expression.
