kotaku.com— US Correctional Officers hated the N64. Why? Seems prisoners used to cannibalize the rumble paks and make tattoo guns out of them. DIY FTW.

I think that its BS that they get video games, tV's or whatever for the money they earn at their prison jobs. screw that do you know how much it cost to incarcerate someone. Prisoners should be getting an education and learning how to not be a burden on society.
just because they have N64's? you either have a really crappy life or a really distorted perception.prison isn't about torture (including psychological torture). prisoners are still human beings and need/deserve basic amenities like social interaction and something to pass time with so they don't lose their minds. if they have someone send them an N64, keeping them pre-occupied and preventing them from becoming mentally or emotionally unstable, that's a good thing.prisons are simply meant to contain individuals that may be a danger to society until they are rehabilitated. as long as you're protected from these guys what do you care if they're playing video games or not? i mean, why are you so bothered by the idea that prisoners might have a little fun--how does that effect you in any way? if others' happiness upsets you, or you take joy in the misery of others, then you, sir, are a sociopath and are likely much more dangerous/harmful to the rest of society than most prisoners in jail for non-violent or victimless crimes.
it's fairly simple to make a tattoo gun out of anything with an electric motor. but you're right, it's weird that the guards are upset by something that seems to have no relevance to them or their jobs. authorities in a prison setting naturally develop sadistic tendencies and overstep their boundaries. this was demonstrated by the (in)famous Stanford prison experiment in which it was demonstrated that, in a prison setting, sadistic and abusive behavior will be tolerated and in fact internalized by guards through legitimized ideology and social and institutional support.
the n64 kid started this crap and it caught on, i bet he has a huge tattoo on his left thigh that says "OH MY GOD NINTENDO 64444444444444444444444444444"
