It's forgivable that the Opera browser won't have Flash or Quicktime, it's only, what, a 67mhz processor with some sort of video processor? As long as it supports cookies and Javascript, though, this thing works as a great online productivity tool for checking e-mail and appointments on Google. (I know, I'm so boring.) Hopefully, someone will make a page with lots of flashing colors so people can fix their stuck pixels without the use of a homebrew kit.
I agree with Primecut here...the Nintendo bias on Digg is amazing, even I own a DS and will get a Wii, but am getting sick of it.I have my DS for games, I won't be using it for web browsing.PSP:Huge screen, displays web pages beautifullyThree tabs, enough for most portable browsing needsMemory stick, for d/ling content that can be played with PSP's movie players, picture viewers, or music player.Plays Flash!Podcasting support!Been around for ages and keeps getting better.Browser works pretty well.Large number of PSP formatted sites-already exist.I could stand some speed increases on the PSP's browser, but it's not that unsmooth for my tastes.DS Browser:Two screens, can be utilized in interesting ways.Stylus can potentially be used for mouse gestures, which is very cool.Screens are much uglier than the PSP's, MUCH.Limited downloadable content without onboard memory. No support for downloaded pictures/movies/music/gamesNo Flash.Lacks many features, so will probably run faster.I'll stick with my PSP for all my browsing needs. My DS is for games, nothing else. My PSP is for games, movies, and photos (I use my iPod for music.)*Shrug* Sorry, the DS getting a browser really isn't all that exciting...
I just wish they had made it only on the GBA cart so that you could use the browser to get on networks where you have to sign in on a web page before you get Internet access. Then you could play games.
I believe you are right about MAC addresses, but if it was only a GBA cartridge it could be taken with you AND one game without having to worry about switching anything.
Very nice. This looks like a good example of how Nintendo is saying they want to change the direction of the company. But I just want a Super Smash Bros remake for the DS (that has online multiplayer of course!!) That would be absolutely beautiful.
"If this had something like AIM built in, I would be there in upwards of 4 seconds. As it is, though, I'm still very tempted. Everything I'm hearing says it'll be faster than the PSP's s**tty browser, and that would be nice... " - poetfoxIt's cool that it supports cookies, because then one can then use AIM Express (unlike on my cellphone's pathetic browser), and even though you can download AIM on most cellphones, it will cost a ton of money if text messaging isn't included in your plan, which is why I deleted AIM from my phone after my bill went up like $60.
I noticed this is over a year old. The DS Browser is also almost a year old. The negatives started when I went to Wal-Mart and it was sold to me. It was the DS Lite version, with the world's smallest print to indicate as such. Then I waited a few months, since Wal-Mart will no longer take returns on products that are opened in my town. I ordered from Nintendo's online store the regular DS version. Well, after I load it up in my bedroom, the DS's Wi-Fi is so weak, it can't find the router! So I move closer and closer testing the connection till I find a sweet spot. In my home office, next to the router. That TOTALLY DEFEATS the purpose of the software then. My PSP can find the freaking router down the street from my house (it's WEP protected, so I know it's mine), but the DS needs to be in the same room? And even then, it's not too good, with my hands doing the "sweet spot" thing that needs to be done when done to fine a reception to the router. After I that, I punched up sites like www.internetfrog.com, www.bankofamerica.com and others and nothing. The DS keeps telling me it can't find the freaking remote access to the site. WTF?! If it's Opera, it should have no problem finding these sites, as a Commodore with GEOS and Wheels can find these sites! I don't mind everything else, and if the hardware was executed better and I didn't keep getting that remote access crap, I'd love this browser. But I'll stick to the PSP browser for now, and wait for a better version of the iPhone or an iPod with Wi-Fi, or maybe just load Opera on my cellphone. And no, I will not buy a range booster for my WiFi, as this is the ONLY device out of my many computers, game systems, and other WiFi devices that works poorly.

I'm ready for this on my DSL now, very great idea and execution.
