upi.com — "West Bank Story," by Ari Sandel, which won the Academy Award for best live-action short film this year, was the first featured film to appear on MySpace Film a year ago. MySpace says that more than 50,000 filmmakers now use the online social network to promote their work.

I was just about to submit this as a story. This movie is so funny. I couldn't find a torrent for it, so here it is on iTunes.http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewMovie?id=215690687&s=143441

Haha, you guys are too funny. OK, myspace sucks. Whatever, get over it. This is not the first person/song/film that MySpace has successfully promoted. Here's one of the latest: http://www.mtv.com/news/yhif/allen_lily/Myspace = garbage code with teenagers and pedophiles blah blah.... if you have a social life outside of digg, you'll realize that most people don't really give a s**t.

As a proud jewish woman, I am mu-mu-mu-MORTIFIED! A jew marrying a goying, and even worse an murdering Islamic goyim at that! What about their kids? What if their kids end up using cheap explosives and end up killing Jewish people they weren't supposed to? This movie shouldn't win any awards or let alone be on the internet!j/k

I doubt its promotion on myspace had much to do with the film winning the award. The people on the Oscar board that vote for the films certainly don't have myspace pages or give a rats ass about myspace. If it's a good film it will get the attention it deserves from the right people.

Saw this with the other 4 nominated shorts at the IFC on 6th Avenue the night before the Oscars. The entire audience was laughing hysterically throughout this whole film. Told my friend that West Bank Story was the sure winner. I should have bet $. Thanks to the IFC for presenting the films because until this year, I have never seen any of the nominated shorts. And yes, I too, don't have myspace.
