Hit a nerve did I?Im not being a "zelot" you are the one being Mr.Overreation here. At no point did I say "LOL USE LINUX NOOB" not sure where you got that from.Linux is totally viable as a gaming box so I was just pointing out that you were wrong to say it isn't. I'm a Gamer and I moved to Linux to free up resouces that could be used for games rather than having anti-virus, anti-spyware, or the latest hole in IE thats being exploited running on my box.I wash my dishes pay bills and play my games too...
Good gravy, these arguments are worse than Ford vs. Chevy debates. I've even listened to Alabama vs. Auburn conversations that were more civilized than these. Mac, Windows, and Linux machines are all viable for various tasks in their own rights, be it web surfing, gaming, coding, whatever. Why can't we all just get along?Oh, right, this is the 'net. Must have forgotten where I'm at.....
"Some of you people are real jackasses, and need to grow up. "Get a Mac" or "Get Linux" doesn't work when you're a gamer. These tips can be very helpful for the Windows users that need them, so please get off your zealous high horses."Sad but true that many games still require Windows (Battlefield 2) and until they are released on other platforms I will have to keep Windows around. And trying to emulate a game like Battlefield 2 (if even possible), which is already a demanding game, would make it very hard to run on any computer.
icetigaurus: I was playing BF2 last night on linux it certainly doesn't require windows. Like I said above I'm a gamer. Actually W.I.N.E. (program that lets you run widows progs in linux) actually stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator. It can run some things faster than windows does natively. I know I get higher FPS in WoW on my Linux box than my Windows box (hence the reason I use it)...
I just love the Linux camp. They expect all Windows XP users who experience slowness at startup to get a distro of Linux, install it, hunt for drivers for their devices, install WINE, and work for days, nay weeks to get a few Windows apps and games working in Linux. Wouldn't it be quicker to throw your windows box out the window, get a second job washing Jamba Juice pitchers, walk to fry's to buy new computer parts, and reassemble a faster computer by hand? It'd be easier too!Sorry, but the learning curve with Linux is too steep and getting certain things like windows apps and drivers installed is only done by a small 1337 percentage of users. Sorry searching the Internet to figure out what chipset my wireless card is based on so I can go compile a driver is not what I call a fun way to spend a Friday evening.
@marathon851"from the page:"Read All 23 Tips HereRead the 99 Tips Here (that makes 122 total)"and you're all asking where the 122 are?"I still have the article opened from this morning and the 99 link wasn't there earlier, I just opened the page in the new window and see that it now shows the 99 extra tips link.
