I'm glad people like labomination are out there. I've had friends and family members think they were democrats until I introduced them to digg. I've got to give a HUGE thank you to labomination and his/her/it's ilk for proving time and time again just how insane liberals truly are. I honestly can't thank you enough. Please keep it up!!!
Oggvobis, uh... No. Under my reasoning, if they wanted to play naked, they'd have to defer to the rule making body, unless that rule making body is required to be obedient to another group, say The People. In which case, it is the role of The People to decide.
@psitech,,,,worked for me,, I never really switched over untill I read actually people saying Nick Berg deserved that video taped beheading,, sounded most unhuman,, the screams from his beheaded body,, while they had his wrists and feet tied.It wasn't so much the yelling and singing to allah while they did this to the man as it was the all caps liberal moonbats saying he deserved it.The very same people that would get a spastic colon if they saw a picture of an Iraqi prisoner with a pillow case over his head.
VhairdraU Again, public organizations such as youth sports are conducted in a NON-RELIGIOUS environment here in Canada, the girl 'chose' to wear her religious symbol within this event. She also chose to join a team sport. So why can't she respect the rules of the league she chose to join? Why is she so special to expect the International soccer rules to be changed for her religious cause? Our media loves to stir s**t up s**t like this, helps them ignore more important issues like nukes in madmans hands, and honor killing of minority women her in Canada. She (and her handlers) is/are cherry picking the points that she wants to be devout over, and thankfully, she lost. I wonder if her mother has encouraged her to give up her c**toris as well, as is widely practiced by 'devout' muslims in Yemen, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, Morocco and etc, as well as some African countries. Don't believe me, check it out yourself. Amnesty International and Human Rights sites will have lots of information on this as well as Faithfreedom.com. I would hope that anyone who does that to a child in Canada is severely punished, but we'll never find LSM investigating that now will we?If this keeps up here, eventually it will it be like Australia, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France and etc., where male Muslim youth, gang rape 'non-Muslim' young girls, teenagers and women because they are NOT wearing the hijab and therefore are whores, and oh, also because they are non-muslim they are consider by these males as worthless female infidels. The defense attorney in the Australian case, stated in court that this is their cultural right where they come from. They believe 'that women not in hijab/burka are asking to be raped', and YES that was their defense, it's their religious right to their twisted little minds. In Canada there is NO compulsion in religion; lets keep it that way.@ bradtacs: So what she got away with it twice before, so did my daughter in wearing her stud earrings during a baseball tournament for three games in Ontario, but guess what? When a different referee called her on it the next day, she had a choice - take them out or don't play. Just because you get away with breaking the rules doesn't make it right. Hello! What fuzzy logic. Honor killings are happening in Canada, what's you take on that? Honor killings are ok and shouldn't be covered by the NEWS, because it's done by Muslims to their own? Why isn't our media covering this? By the way, when is our culture going to be respected for the openness and tolerance we are showing by allowing immigrants to come here (and in US) and live as they choose? Should we be paying for a man to have up to four wives and as many children he wants, living on welfare? THIS is happening here already. And then sending their children to 'islamic schools' only. How is that going to affect our country for the next generation or the next? IF you bother to look a little deeper than cbc or mctv you'll discover this is a huge issue now in France, Sweden and Norway. Currently Muslims students in public schools there are refusing to learn history, music, art, social studies and etc, as it's against the koran. It's also happening in Deerborn Mich with children not being allowed to participate in art classes, music, theater, gym, etc, by their parents orders. Time to for us to wake up and think for ourselves, don't you think so? Too bad Canadians are so complacent they swallow anything the LSM spoon feeds them night after night. In this regard, I find the Canadian public is so very ignorant thanks to our government run media the mantra is: "well if the media is saying it... it must be true, it's even on the NEWS!!!"The right decision was thankfully made, get over it, this is NOT an Islamic ruled country.
bradtacs, as I asked above, since when does getting away with breaking the rules a few times make it okay to break them in the future? (Also note I'm not being hypocritical here - I dugg you down for your anti-LGF nonsense, but I didn't digg you down for your link to your source. It'd be nice if more on the Left would accord us that courtesy.)
It's not in the Qur'an, Hadith or the Sunnah, either, as an interpretation of covering any part of the head. The Qur'an mentions the "hijab" as a curtain in the room, dividing the area where Muhammed sat in ruling and accepted visitors in his role as a chieftan, from the rest of the "house." It is literally used as a word for a covering or seclusion device, such as a veil....the Qur'an even refers to the sun as being behind a hijab in another part. The Qur'an and Hadith (or possibly it was the Sunnah) also mentions the "khimar" (and jilbab), which was worn over the chest to cover the bosom of a woman in desert / bedouin robes, going along with the whole "dress modestly" thing (which Christians (used to?) believe in too, but not because of Jesus' instructions). At no point ever in the entire Qur'an, Sunnah or Hadith is a covering of any part of a woman's head dictated or even suggested as a requirement of religion. This is a falsehood promoted by misogynistic Imams who want women as second-class citizens at best, or as sexual & reproductive property at worse. They have taken the word "satr," which meant "a covering"Now, if this girl feels, in her PERSONAL opinion, that wearing her renamed "hijab" is a mark of her piety or brings her closer to God, that's great. I'm happy for her. But just like anyone else who feels more religious when wearing any kind of head clothing (Jews, Sihks, tin-foil hat people), the rules of playing soccer (football for you Europeans, sorry, horrible education we've got over here in the colonies and all that ;-D ) require that she leave the damn thing on the sidelines. Don't like it? Fine, don't play - but don't try to sell the world on the lie that this is all a part of a religion, and she's a victim of oppression. How did she ever learn to play soccer before this, I wonder, if she's only recently been trying to wear this symbol of female oppression? Did this *just now* become a concern for her? I smell a staged grievance theater, once again.

"Parents on the team, the Nepean Hotspurs Selects, say, however, that Asmahan Mansour had played without any complaints from officials in other games in Ontario and in two previous games at the weekend tournament, held in Laval, a suburb north of Montreal"<a class="user" href="http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20070226.whijab0226/BNStory/">http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20070226.whijab0226/BNStory/</a>She in fact already played in the same TORNAMENT in MTL with no problems.
