people are so stupid. it's almost mind-boggling that our species has evolved this far. if we can at least get them out of office, things will hopefully go better.

Marriage was introduced and aknowleged by all of mankind via the bible since the beginning of recorded history. According to the ancient documents, it was God himself who performed the first ceremony giving specific instructions as to why and how a marriage ceremony would be conducted. Additionally, the aspect of homosexuality was covered further down the line and it is under these terms that the resistance to gay marriage takes place. Whether or not governments adopt this ceremony as there own legal contract is another issue. However this has no effect on the sanctity of marriage for those who uphold the belief that marriage is a divine union designed specifically for a man and a women. Additionally your reasoning of equality based on adapting marriage to alternate circumstances falls short on reasoning since marriage was handed down as a symbolic arrangement for a man and a women and not two people of the same sex. Sadly terms of equality and freedom are most commonly misused as right of passages to altercate social structures than respect for doctrins and heritage. However implying that gays should be able to adapt marriage ceremonies as a right of equality is far from logical. Why contort divine rituals in opposition to religious beliefs to fulfill quality? I say let the gays community devise their own form of union and leave the heterosexual ceremonies alone.

Our world seems populated enough as it is. I don't think we'lll exactly suffer from having a few less people in it.
I just don't understand how all these so-called "god-loving" christians can constitute forcing their religion on other people, by means of banning gay marriage. It's such a selfish thing to do... I honestly don't know how people can reason that banning gay marriage is the "right," and "ethical" thing to do. By banning gay marriage we're getting back to our old ways of discrimination and biggotry. I mean, why not ban interracial and differing religion marriages while we're at it. In fact, how about the only people that can get married are upper middle class, white Christians, of a differing gender (I'm being sarcastic here). It's so insane that this is even an ISSUE in our world today. The only reason we're still hanging on to the idiotic, discriminatory concept of banning gay marriage is because of stupid, close-minded ass-h**ES who think that their religion is better than everyone else's, and, therefore, should constitute the loving union of two human beings. Marriage between people of the same sex is NOT a civil rights issue. The fundamental argument is that the societal value of a homosexual marriage is the same as the marriage between a man and a woman. The argument is flawed because on a macro level a same sex marriage has almost no societal value. It does not perpetuate the race, it does not create an ideal structure for raising children, it does not create order in society, and it opens the door for arguments about legalization of many other things destructive to society.The problem we have in our society today is that we only think of individuals and their personal pleasure and happiness. Concentrating on only the individual preferences of a few will destroy the rights of the many. A society is a structure that brings discipline to groups of human beings, when there is no discipline you have the law of the jungle, tribes, and no collective good eventually. Individual needs should be considered in balance with the larger needs of society.This decision in California will force the need for a US Constitutional Amendment banning same sex marriage. California should have left it alone. But typical of California, if it is wrong they will choose it. California is a model for how to destroy a society. They have gone too far and it is time for an activist approach to ending the madness.
