uh...lets hope the keyboard and mouse aren't completely gone. seriously, who wants to have to always wave their arms around to use their computer? I could see that being cool for like, a few days, you could show your friends how cool it is, but you'll probably want to revert to the original.

Well, it doesn't have to be a touchscreen. It's just another peripheral, like keyboard or mouse. Only instead of keyboard keys you have a flat touch surface which you use as a keyboard and mouse. And the felling would be exactly as a normal keyboard. You see keys on the surface, you type them at they feel like normal keys (via haptics technologies) . And you don't need the mouse. Just slide your hand on the same surface and performs the same function

I won't be ditching my keyboard & touchpad anytime soon but it might be neat. The interface to the iPhone makes me believe it's possible to pull it off.

I picture something like an iMac with a much thinner removable screen. All the connections for the keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc. are connected to the computer through a single port while it is docked, and when you take it off you just use an onscreen keyboard. Better yet, just connect everything with bluetooth.
