john.jubjubs.net — From the article: "The web belongs to people, not companies. This world view that Steve gave a glimpse into betrays their thinking: it’s out-of-date, corporate-controlled, duopoly-oriented, not-the-web thinking. And it’s not good for the web."

Of course, you're assuming others have the same problem. I don't think that's the case, and I run a powerbook G4 as well.Does Firefox or Camino not do the same to you?

udahlen, Jobs entire shtick is as carefully choreographed, planned and rehearsed as any elaborate stage presentation. Overlooked? You are being far too kind, sir.Jobs wants nothing to do with open and interoperable. iTunes for Linux? Mass storage enabled iPods? OSX for the PC? DivX on Apple TV?Right. Just give Apple the credit card number. I do not see how there can be any doubt in anyone's mind about this right now. There it was, in color and slickly presented, Stevie's vision of a future, Free From Free Software, free from Firefox.See right here on the nice pie chart, you guys are gone. Isn't that nice?Hey Firefox, hey all you FLOSS warriors: "f**k You", sincerely, Steve.I hope hackers kick that gadget's assas fast as they ripped that crap TV box. But, that would make the pos actually worth something, increasing demand. So the hell with it, leave it alone, stay the course, let the suckers drop their cash. But reading about some clever kid getting skype to work on the iPhone would be very fun, indeed.

Of course he was serious. He was making it seriously clear that Firefox and other non-entrenched browsers represent more of a likely opportunity for market expansion. I didn't start using Firefox regularly until version 2.0. Now I love it. I can't really "get" with Opera. Just seems needy for attention, regardless of its laurels. If I had a Wii, I'd probably start thinking about it more. Likewise, I'm really thinking about Safari alot, because I'm getting an iPhone. The speed, and some of the other features interest me too. It's getting to the point where its very possible I could start using Firefox and Safari more regularly, and IE, not much at all. At home, Safari just earned my first ever "default browser" switch, just because I can use it to browser Digg pages with HUGE amounts of comments and not have any problems. In the time it takes IE and Firefox to "think" out these pages, I'm already enjoying content on Safari. --I mean, its already DOWNLOADED, its just render time that kills the page.In the end, I think Steve didn't want to be more political than he needed to be. I bet if he wanted to be perfectly honest, he'd just show Safari with the new percentages, and show the other browsers, eating into IE. But, that's wasn't necessary to judge who is growing at what rate. --Just to say what Apple wanted to accomplish and represent on screen. "Mozilla" shouldn't take it so seriously.
