mozilla.org— The Lightning Project is a redesign of the Calendar component. Its goal is to tightly integrate calendar functionality (scheduling, tasks, etc.) into Mozilla Thunderbird.

Chandler handles events, either tasks, emails, or appointments as standalone events allowing information to be structured and unstructured at the same time. I am yet to see such an approach in any other PIM. Chandler rules.
I remember 0.2 of Phoenix (before it was called FireBird and before that was called FireFox) being quite good already. While the version number is small it might be worth trying out. Though data loss is unacceptable and that might change things a lot.
I'll load it up at home, but not ready to give up Outlook here at the office. If this is an 'alpha' - anybody have an idea when the 'beta' - or dare I say - production release is due?
I used to use Thunderbird. Great email client, but doesn't it seem like Mozilla is late to the game? Adding a calendar to your email client. I am pretty sure I had that is 2000 or before.

Unbelievable! I'm all excited about installing Lightning and I get the following message:"Lightning 0.1 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox."Turns out, that if you have the latest version of Firefox - like most of us do (v 1.5.0.1) - lightning won't install as it is only supported up to v 1.5.0!Dang!see below:http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=395945&highlight=lightning
