mobilecrunch.com — MobileCrunch has posted some presentation photos of what appears to be Motorola’s new RAZR PDA. We know that Moto has a Linux-based ROKR ready to go, so it’s likely that the RAZR in this shot will sport some Linuxy goodness.

Why the diggs down? I was being serious. I want a new phone and a Linux based phone would be an attractive alternative to an Apple phone.

You know, leaving out the question mark when copying over the original story's headline makes all the difference. The submitter took a speculative question, and turned it into fact with how he presents the article. The headline is completely baseless. Nit-picky? I don't think so.Marked as inaccurate.

Who cares if it uses linux, seriously, does it mean it will be more compatible with a linux pc? noWill motorola even bring out a tool suite for linux (either opensource or propietry)? no.Can I get more functionality out of the Nokia N series in linux? yesJust because a peice of hardware uses the linux kernel doesnt make it the linux we know and loveWill you get the full array of the GNU toolkit or a package manager? nope and nopeYou will likely not notice any similaritites to linux unless can access the real file system, which you wont be able to do with the basic motorola toolkit anyway.Get a symbian phone which already has tools designed for it, linux may be ready on mobiles someday, but it certainly wont be on the razr.i'll get a linux phone when i can install a gentoo or debian based distro with a small footprint on it, somone has developed a homebrew mobile-phone gui possibly using the e17 display, and can use my favourite wireless tools like kismet.

"But at least it'll be silvery-looking and have a funky name."No no no.But at least it runs linux.

Considering how horrible a bunch of mistakes Motorola have made in the past with their phones, this reads more like a PR nightmare for the Linux kernel than anything else.
