digitalpoint.com— After being dugg the site is on a $100,000 fund raiser to buy new servers partly due to the last digg affect.

So let me get this correct.A commercial company is asking for money then come tax time he is going to write it off.Isn?t that like apple or Google asking for money to buy something?I read the fundraiser page and from the sounds of it sounds like he acts like some one is making him pay for it which I don?t feel is the case.I feel that any commercial company should be able to stand on there own two feet and not ask for hand outs. Please forgive me if I am wrong in what I have said but it?s what I see.
If Shawn wants more money, he can easily make more money, by making his tools, and coop and parts of the forum paid, just like some other forums have done. He has done a great job in the forums. The forums advertising in itself is shared with the forum members. What else can you expect.

There is something wrong about a company asking for donations when you know the business is making tons of cash because of the traffic. There are many free services out there and you don't see those companies asking for money to help build their business so that they make more money. Why not reinvest back into the business, like the rest of us trying to grow? I guarantee you that they are not hurting for money. Yes, they claim that their business is programming and software, etc, but let's face the reality that his services allow for the traffic to his sites and you know he is not complaining about the adwords money in his checking account. He's no doubt a millionaire already.

They should use a lighter web server like Lighttpd, that will cut the bills down in half, details here:http://zedomax.com/blog/2009/10/14/wordpress-hack- ...Not trying to promote but trying to help out, this is my donation, "optimize your server" and save like $50K.
