Funny how the Republican's are trying to portray Obama as a Socialist when the red states are the ones getting the Robin Hood treatment from the blue states.http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/266.htm ... It would be interesting how quickly the entire country would turn blue if the Republicans tried to cut off welfare to those poor states that they carry in most elections. In other words the blue states do put their money where their votes are, and are proud to do so.
NorthMass: Obama's economic advisors: Volcker (the guy who halted the early-80s hyperinflation), Rubin (the guy who engineered the budget surplus of the Clinton era), Summers (his protege) and Buffett (well, we all know who he is). Yes, I understand what you mean about Greenspan but don't agree with you. His *role* embodied government intervention. The fact that he endorsed little oversight/regulation over the financial services industry is something he just now regrets.Agreed about Obama's flip-flops, but again, they pale against those of McCain's.I'm sorry, but I still don't agree with voting for 3rd party candidates until IRV is a reality (and it's slowly trickling up). It's said that the US's dual-party system is like parliamentary multiparty systems, but our coalition building is done before the election. This is why both parties seem to stitch together such disparate "coalitions", the Repubs with neocons, paleocons, religious fundies, and Dems with union folks, social liberals, etc.Plus, I can't stand Bob Barr (social conservative), McKinney (antiSemite), Nader (narcissist who does nothing but run for president every 4 years), etc. (not to be snarky at all - an honest correction - it's bona fide, not bonified)
definition of maverick:An unbranded range animal, especially a calf that has become separated from its mother, traditionally considered the property of the first person who brands it.Oh yeah...we really do want to elect that. That would be so good for this country.I am all for saving stray puppies & kittens. Doesn't mean I want one running the country. (at least not till he's housebroken and stops crapping on the carpet)

Smarter isn't better when they use their smarts to deceive people into believing something that isn't true, which is what Obama has done.

Jasoninoakland, you have my respect for being objective and fair, unlike a lot of Obama supporters here.
