I agree with credit cards in real life, I think that's all we will have in the future, but in Monopoly? Were is the fun of the game?? I love showing of piles of money when playing! And weird arguments in the article about not being able to count or read. If you cant read or write, your to young to play Monopoly ffs!
No one mentioned the best part of having paper money. The gloat factor! It's very satisfying to slap your opponents in the face with a thick stack of cash. And I mean that quite literally.
I don't think it will sell well, for all the reasons mentioned. The paper money, it's just how Monopoly works! They're removing one of the main points of the game, and it's a shame to see. There's even the expression, "Monopoly Money" to say fake money etc, or as if you are throwing money about like it's not real. It's just not the same having a Monopoly debit card.No more hiding money or gloating :(But it will be so easy to cheat... unless they somehow fix it O.oJust type in the wrong numbers on the machine-thingy = extra cheap properties! Its crazy.Heh, and they say by adding the card they are moving with technology, does that mean they're moving with the times as well by allowing fraud and card scams / PIN theft?
Does this mean that no more running out of money in the game? Seems whenever I play we're constantly running out of $50s, $100s, and $500s. Also are these actual cards with magnetic strips? If so I hope they aren't like my Amex.. Damn strip died after having it for like a year. And I swipe it maybe once or twice a week, but in a game monopoly you'll swipe it like what, a hundred times??
The next real move would be for them to add a "Visa Plaza" that's 10x the cost of Boardwalk. Seriously. They should count that g*ddamn 3% surcharge up with that silly little credit gadget and then really show who gets rich. I wonder if they'd search my towncar for bombs as I drove up to the Visa building (now that would be realistic)
I actually think this is a great idea to help today's youth become more familiarized with the idea of these "plastic magic money cards" having actual balances on them and learn how they work. Bravo Monopoly! I am in the credit market myself and think the next step for out kids after these, are actual Prepaid Debit Cards. http://www.greendotreviews.com is a great starting place for you to find a safe alternative to "plastic" for our kids.

Just think of the benefits of being the banker now, all the interest!

Visa is obviously paying them to do this...That would be the reason.

That and now they're horrible at counting how much money they have.

Don't panic, it's just YET ANOTHER version of Monopoly that they're putting out.

: Everything gets here before I do. Bah, looks like I can no longer sneak the $500s and the $1000s when the banker isn't looking ;)
