money.cnn.com — A change to possibly THE classic board game is coming down the pike - and they are looking for player suggestions. I would propose that at least some of the properties be changed to ISPs or Internet Services. What changes would you think would modernize an old classic, but with the same feel?

Exacty! I want Monopoly to stay the way it is. Its Menopoly, it works, it doesn't need changing.

I want someone to finally make OLYGOPOLY. It's like Monopoly but to survive you'd have to join into a loose conglomorate with other players to set prices and gouge customers. Chance/Community Chest cards would include the "Anti-trust Lawsuit" card.

They need to make the game at least two-fold. Make it possible to play the old ORIGINAL style (even if properties are different) if one so chooses, and then add "ADVANCED" or alternate rules, including new cards, or perhaps giving characters different special abilities. Maybe someone has a good defense "LAWYER" (Choose to either get out of Jail free if roll something, or choose to stay in Jail longer than 3 turns if it's late in the game and you don't want to land on other properties).Someone else could have an ability where the roll one die, (maybe you even divide that # by 2 rounded up or down if it's an odd #) to make people pay them double or tripple the value of the rent as long as there are no properties on it. Sure this ability would be worthless toward the end of the game, but at the beginning you'd get ahead FAST, and maybe that's what matters.Another could have the ability to cancel/block someone else's ability for one turn. Once this ability is used, it cannot be used again until the person passes go to reset it.Another person could have the ability to STEAL someone elses' abilities for one or two turns. This seems like the best ability, but once they use it, they have nothing for the next several turns until they get past GO again and that sucks.Someone else could have an ability to try to steal from the bank or from another player by rolling dice. They have to choose how much they are trying to steal (there should be a limit) and depending on what they roll determines whether they get caught or not (it should be more difficult depending on how much they are trying to steal). If they don't get caught, then they get the cash. Or I suppose you could roll again to see how much you get away with instead of being able to choose.Another could have a "Framing" ability to have a chance at throwing other people in jail (which would also be great at the beginning of the game). Or intentionally commit crimes to throw themselves in jail toward the end of the Game (to avoid landing on hotels and going bankrupt).Anyone else think of other special abilities they could put in for an "ADVANCED" rules monopoly? I am tempted to make up my own advanced rules even if they don't make it official. :) I think it could be fun!
