kokugamer.com — Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has been one of the most anticipated first person shooters this generation, yes even passing Halo 3 with the hype. It has become one of the highest selling games this year by selling 4.7 million copies on opening day and bringing in over $320 million...

The comparison isn't ridiculous, in the context of a return on investment. High value video games cost $20-$40 million to make, while the Dark Knight reportedly cost $180 million. So the fact that MW2 made more revenue than DK really draws attention to the jarring difference in profit margin. These are industries competing for sales, investments, and employees. With those kinds of numbers, which industry do you think will attract the best talent and the most investment? That's what this is ultimately about.

YOu got a good point, because MW 2 did sell a lot of the $70 editions, at least like 1.5 million, which indeed does contribute to the overall amount sold.

True, than we'd be saying this game sold more than Titanic, but no IW had to screw over what got them into the console scene.

Stop being such a self pitying tool. When you make a reasonable comment that is true, it's not gonna get dugg down, and "predicting" that people will digg you down is extremely lame.

****Spoiler******I agree that they didn't intend for it to be purposely disturbing, and I believe that they really "think" this is the most profound story in an FPS however, "No Russian" Itself was very poorly executed from a movie drama standpoint. You're basically thrown in to this terrorist situation with a very flimsy cover story, no setup or character development whatsoever and less than ten minutes later you're mowing down civilians (or at the very least watching it happen) They could have devised entire missions that set up the characters involved including solidified the PC as an operative but those missions wouldn't have involved very much if any shooting at all so they cut them or left them out. Had they thought outside the "must kill everything" box they could have set that whole mission up as one of the most profound and though provoking set pieces in video game history. As it stands now it just feels flat and disturbing. It could have been a million times better with a more fleshed out story line. As it is they made a game that is non stop shoot and kill, they get 0 inovation points for that.
