The other unimpressive thing is that by increasing the number of platters 50% (from 2 to 3), they managed to get 36% more capacity according to the article. (The article also claims that the drive has the highest capacity per platter, so hopefully they just can't do arithmetic instead of really getting their numbers confused.)
I don't think you understand my comment. If apple spent, for example $1,000,000 on an advertising campaign that $1,000,000 could be used to develop a better screen aspect ratio, or in this case, a solid state option for their devices. I am not saying that they don't develop their products, just they could be even more...(also there is a long argument for restricting the development/ output using the supply and demand economic model, but that's just long...)
