film.guardian.co.uk — The cinematic world was today celebrating the rediscovery of missing scenes from German director Fritz Lang's legendary silent film Metropolis - thought lost for 80 years, until they were found in the archive of a museum in Argentina. Key scenes cut from the science fiction picture - either because they were considered to be too brutal or too long.

So does that mean all of the lost footage has been found? Is the film complete now?

This stinks of viral buzz for a remake. Oh lordy please no.

I had read in another article that they think they are still missing about 5 minutes of the original film. As for when it will be available to the public, that article indicated that it typically takes "several years" to complete the restoration work. Perhaps given the interest in this one it might happen sooner.

The audio track was just music, no? Did the sheet music get destroyed too? If not, they can just hire a pianist to play and sync it to the film.

Did anyone catch Ollie Olson and Fading Fires play at the Melbourne Fringe Festival a few months ago? They composed music to 1920's silent films such as Man Ray. It was truly beautiful. http://www.storyz.com/stories/105-quirky-culture-2 ...I'm finding it hard to get content from this show.
