content.hamptonroads.com — A cargo container that apparently fell from a ship washed up on the Outer Banks of North Carolina today and spilled thousands of bags of Doritos brand tortilla chips on the beach. Scavengers collected the chips, which were apparently still fresh due to their airtight packaging...

You mean Doritos aren't good for you? Why hasn't anyone told me this yet?Thank you so much, you have saved my life. I have been drinking smoothies made out of crushed cool ranch doritos, mountain dew and cherry garcia ice cream every day for breakfast for the last 5 years. If I had known that those things weren't good for me, I would have never started in the first place. Please, take your message about the evils of so-called "junk foods" (you should patent that phrase - it's so original) to the world. If more people knew that these foods were bad for them, I just know they wouldn't eat them.

Did you read comment #4? I bet the majority of the readers come here for just the articles. His version was funnier anyway.

You are too upbeat. As a pessimist, I claim they just committed suicide.

Doritos from the office vending machine - cholesterol hazard, doritos from the sea - healthy

Maybe someone slit the side of the "Locust of Chips" and they fell out?

The container floated because of the light total weight of the container and cargo, and the amount of air sealed inside. Those bags are mostly air with a few chips. It was pried open by the fishermen who found it and brought it in. One guy filmed it and is submitting it for the superbowl commercial contest.

Clearly guerilla marketing. People could eat them thanks to Dorito's "airtight" packaging? Hmmm...if that doesn't sound like advertising copy, I don't know what does. And the glossy adsy photos? Please. My guess is that this all gets revealed on the Superbowl. Hard to believe more people haven't called this out as marketing.
