speaking of London. there is a law in England that said something like if you live in an abandoned home and the owner doesn't kick you out. you can live there. known as squatting. so that's $0.

I think we all know how awful Americans think 'socialism' is, you know that thing where you care about other people and help them if they need it...

I believe in unemployment insurance. I feel it should be a stop-gap measure designed to help people for a while until they get back on their feet. However, there actually have been a few studies that have found those on unemployment benefits tend not to find a new job until the benefits are just about to run out: While there are millions who cannot find a job, there are also millions who do not feel a need to find a job considered "beneath" them in pay or interest. Not until the unemployment benefits run out, anyway.Summers and Poterba:<a class="user" href="http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/the_stimulus_for_unemployment_Q082yIXFBCIxk41lqXXt6H" rel="nofollow">http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnist ...</a>"Similarly, Meyer found 'the probability of leaving unemployment rises dramatically just prior to when benefits lapse.' In other words: If you extend benefits to 79 weeks, many people won't find an acceptable job offer until the 76th or 78th week."Meyer<a class="user" href="http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=425572" rel="nofollow">http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id ...</a>

"Remember the construction projects that were the solution to the Great Depression are now rusting and crumbling."---- Then we need to go building roads, rail, schools, libraries, bridges, damns, irrigation, ports, bus terminals, canals, airports, and all those other fun things the Glenn Beck crowd would call 'socialist' -- if its 'socialism' to want a few shovel ready jobs in every congressional district to try and jump start this economy, then sign me up to the communist party. We gave money to the bankers and all they've done is hoard it. Time for a new way.
