itotd.com — It's not just powdered milk that comes in a box. Liquid milk treated with Ultra High Temperature (UHT) pasteurization can stay fresh in your pantry for months. But taste, cost, and buying habits may spoil the deal.

Thanks for the run-down. We only buy UHT milk, as we live overseas in hot climes, and do not trust the local fresh milk. I was curious if UHT milk was in any way less nutritious or, as you mentioned, radioactive or something. I rest easier now. Thanks. I would add, that UHT milk is much better in coffee as the low fat version is very thick and creamy, unlike the thin watery low-fat fresh milk I get when home in Canada.

I wish people would push this concept here in the states but it'll probably never happen because, ya know...if it's popular in Europe then it must be wrong. I would love to use UHT in our coffeehouse and eliminate most of the cooler hassles, storage space requirements, mess, etc but even the best pricing I've found is prohibitive. We need demand!
