arstechnica.com — "While enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting what Apple is going to announce on Tuesday, they may be hearing from Microsoft, too. The company announced a surprise media presentation to be held on Tuesday evening at which an "innovative concept in development" will be unveiled. Could it be Origami?"

Perhaps Micro$oft's 'innovative concept in development' will be...that they will apologize to all their customers for Windows, and give everyone a refund of whatever they spent on crappy Microsoft operating systems. I'm only joking. I have never given one cent to Microsoft, and have always used their OSs...At that price, they have been OK.I won't support a company that invests in wars to make more profit.

> Oh yeah, Microsoft who owns a 95% share of the market is just quaking in their> boots! They could buy Apple right now. Pay cash even - BOOM, headshot! Apple> would be a fart in the wind.Your narrow view of things is humorous. MS can't just buy Apple, nor do they want Apple to die. Apple is one of the few, big reasons they can withstand the charge of being a monopoly. If MS scoops up Apple's 5% of the market, there will be no question of MS's monopoly and they would be split up faster than you can blink an eye. Or to put it in your words: "BOOM, headshot! Microsoft would be a fart in the wind." They would never be that dumb.

Apple really tried to downplay advance word on this "event." It was the press that whipped the whole thing into a frenzy.
