engadget.com — Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer got on stage at D6 with Walt and Kara to talk... Microsoft, of course. While the company is still being rather coy about Windows 7 -- some have blamed loose lips early on in Vista development for saddling the OS with too high of expectations and making things difficult for developers

I could have imagined it, since Linux did this a year ago with a simple driver for X. All operating systems can do that with the proper drivers.

Vista works fine for most people but for someone like myself that does music most programs dont work on vista. I have also heard of many driver issues.

Yeah hardware has never been something I cared for and as far as ProTools I tried everything from their Mbox all the way to HD line and really don't like their gear. Pro-Tools will be a relic in a few years anyway, with people being able to record anywhere from 16bit-32bit right out of the box with even the most simple DAW's on the market, mega-memory and more cores than most people know what to do with the days of needing Digi-Designs overpriced Accel Cards to pull a extreme work load are numbered. There's really nothing that special about their product line if you truely know what your doing and really offer up a honest opinion instead of hype that usually makes someone feel like their gear isn't good enough. Learn with what you've got and a lot of times you'll truely find you've already got more than what you need. There's a lot more to the recording arts and to the making of great albums than what you hear on MTV or on a RIAA pressed CD. Their sound over the last 10-15 years is just one of many fads in audio that has come and gone over the decades. With the passage of time new techniques and ways of doing things emerge, this age is no different.

s**t, consumer-centric software is probably not the right word, but after having used Windows all my life, trying Ubuntu made me really re-think what "made for the user" means. Windows feels like it's made for Microsoft, while Ubuntu really feels like it's made for anyone.

Well, better late than never.I think this will prove to be pretty useful for the small Tablet PC market. I say small because a Tablet is not the most practical choice for most, but for those who use them it'll be a great feature... it's kinda like an iPhone, but bigger! The mapping features alone would be great.
