blogs.law.harvard.edu — Microsoft's Zune will not play protected Windows Media Audio and Video purchased or "rented" from Napster 2.0, Rhapsody, Yahoo! Unlimited, Movielink, Cinemanow, or any other online media service. That's right -- the media that Microsoft promised would Play For Sure doesn't even play on Microsoft's own device.

I stand corrected:http://www.betanews.com/article/The_Chances_of_Zunes_Success/1158371632(and by "I stand corrected" I do mean about the Zune. When it comes to Balmer, I stand my ground.)

Actually, I use an iRiver T30, since the iPod costs too much and doesn't support ogg (for ripping CDs on my linux laptop) or wma (for ripping CDs on my parents' windows computer via Windows Media Player). The T30 is also the way by which I learned of the woes of Doesn'tPlayForSure, and, specifically, the proprietary MTP protocol, used in iRiver models in the US.(Thankfully, I found a firmware update that converted my player to a UMS device, allowing me to transfer music from any computer, any way I want to)
