itwire.com.au — Some of the patches also apply to Windows Vista and two apply to Office on the Apple Mac. The Apple patches are rated as important but not critical, while information the specific Vista patches is still not available at the time of writing.

I think it has something to do with them having "Patch Tuesday". They need just a few too many patches on system that is five years old. And I don't think any one disagrees with the fact that every OS needing patchs.

Apple likes to hide functions(ie. esoteric open-apple keyboard combos), let alone their problems. You wont hear of a patch until it fixes the problemsLinux has the zeal of open source to drive the patch process., I personally think that openness is the fastest way to expose and fix bugs.MS will deny there is a problem to be patched at all, then issue a "critical update" that packages the fix with the next round of DRM.That is why I see the humor in their development model sucking ass.

i dont know about anyone else, but i dont install EVERY patch on patch Tuesday. I install the ones that may cause any security issues.Windows has to support a lot of machines in the world and if that OS is not up to date in newly discovered holes, then they are not doing their job. I am sure IT admins are quite happy to have a periodic date to expect some patches IF needed. It is not like they just turn on auto-updates on every machine and let them get bloated with everysingle patch. An example would be IE7 from a (previous digg). Few if any admins are going to let that update pass into their systems..Articles like these are just spin for people that pseudo-care about issues about securiy when in fact it gives people an excuse to rant/flame/troll.

WHat happens to embedded systems running on NT?

Bull. That argument was first publicised on the Microsoft-owned MSNBC news network. It was a blatant lie then, and it's nothing but well-spread propaganda now.Linux and Mac have superior, tried and tested security mechanisms, which Windows has been trying to catch up with as fast as it possible can. The security stuff in Windows XP Service Pack 2? The security stuff in Vista? All copied from the "equally flawed" Linux and Mac worlds. Microsoft love to spread high-visibility propaganda like this, while they do other things behind your back to secure their monopoly once more. Just try to keep your eye on the ball, and not on the illusionist's waving hands.
