microsoft.com— Microsoft is now distributing Flip4Mac's WMV Player plugin via their website - it's FREE now instead of the $10 it used to cost. This lets you play WMV files in QuickTime Player. Very neat.

Works fairly well, better the Window Media Player for the codecs VLC/Mplayer can't handle. I'm having issues getting CNN Pipeline or Comedy Central clips to play without using Media Player :( No truthiness for me.
This is exactly what I've been looking for! My school (Case Western) records a good amount of their lecture classes and posts them online for streaming... but the only problem is that they only stream wmv files! With this plugin I can finally watch the videos on my powerbook!
I purchased only the playback plug-in awhile back. As long as it can decode the video and audio thru the F4M module, I don't see the problem. With the aid of QT pro I exported the file to divx very easily.Windows Media Audio 9 Standard, Stereo, 44.100 kHzWindows Media Video 9 Standard, 320 x 240, Millions
"When ever I try to close a WMV video playing in Quicktime, not only does the window close but Quicktime unexpectedly closes. Does this happen to any one else?" (SpazMuffin)Exactly the same thing happens to me. I'm running 10.4.4 with all the latest trimmings, and Quicktime has never given me any problems before...
They didn't pull media player for mac. It's still available for download.I'm also having problems using the plug-in. I tested it at gamespot.com. It will play one video fine, but when I try to play another it will crash the browser. I hope they fix this, so far it seems like a really good idea that kinda works.
