arstechnica.com — The Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) is a small program Microsoft pushes out to computers on Patch Tuesday to clean out a list of malware. On this month's Patch Tuesday, Microsoft added scans for a malware file that masks itself as security software, and it found plenty of copies.

I can name you 20 viruses for Windows off the top of my head, and 5 or 6 sites that will auto-infect your system by just visiting them in Internet Explorer. Can you do the same for OSX?Whatever your hate for Apple may be, OSX is a very safe OS. I have only been using a mac for a couple years now, but it is a huge peace of mind for someone like me who compulsively downloads stuff yet never has to worry about being infected.

Mac's running Windows have the same problems as PC's running Windows so the problem isn't solved, it just got more expensive.

I can imagine myself saving $1200 by not buying into the garbage Apple promotes in their falicious ads and instead use a computer for more then just organizing photos and music. The only clueless people are those that think Mac's are better because they cost more.

My sister got that a couple of months back. After some extreme frustration I managed to remove all traces. She was scared into using Firefox. Job done :-)
