oh they will probably still work. But you will need to download an installer that secretely installs WGA and calls home to MS to check your license. And when you go to update you have to run through the WGA checks etc.
Well, I almost had a heart attack when I read this. Too bad because I liked all the software they made. Now I have to find replacements because I'm sure most of it will be gone within 6-12 months or at least cost money.
Ofcourse they're going to install WGA. And as mentioned above, use MSN instead of Google for search activities.Besides that, any capability to detect MS's own spy/malware will be removed. The future incarnations of the aforementioned WGA for example.
As the poorly translated, then subtitled Vader would say, "Do not want."I liked Winternals' independence because Mark and Bruce could pretty much say Windows was deficient in one way or another, then offer up a way to work with it. As part of Microsoft, they may loose some of the freedom, but at least PSTools may finally be bundled with Windows-- Microsoft has needed those tools for a long time. However, I'm becoming concerned with Microsoft's acquisition strategy -- Last month, they picked up iView Multimedia with the intent of turning iView MediaPro into a Photoshop killer. How that will happen, I don't know. Photoshop is an image editor. iView MediaPro is a multiformat media cataloger and organizer. Had they wanted to go after Photoshop directly, they should have bought Jasc before Corel snatched them up.The Winternals acquisition is also reactive. With the suit over Veritas Storage Foundation (the supposed basis for Windows' Logical Volume Manager), Microsoft's relationship with Symantec has gone down the toilet. Microsoft knows it needs advanced recovery, maintenance and recovery tools, which Winternals can deliver, and ERD Commander is a shot over the bow of BartPE.With Windows Vista's continued delays, Microsoft should be pouring its money into delivering a stable, powerful operating system-- not buying up its aftermarket.
