pcpro.co.uk — Microsoft's MSN Mobile Music is a music service with a difference. Tracks cost twice as much as iTunes, are locked to the handset they're downloaded on, and are lost when you upgrade your phone every year. The Head of Mobile's response? "I didn't realise phones were churning that quickly in the marketplace these days."

it's the behind-the-times attitude to it all that surprises me most. Almost like they think people will want it just because it's there, completely ignoring the fact that it's inferior to pretty much every other music service out there. People really aren't that dumb.

I think that DRM is counter-productive. At the very least it saddles computers with so much extra (and unnecessary load) that they act like an 80286 instead of a multi-core Pentium.

What an idiot! They will have to make a lot of changes for this to work.

It's like there is one crew at MS that knows how to make something that is decent. When Vista was being worked on, I think Xbox was being fixed and now that windows 7 is their big thing, MSN is being left to the management s**theads who think "not awful"="good".
