engadget.com— Remember all those different Windows 7 versions we heard about? Well guess what? It's worse than you could have possibly imagined. There are six different editions!

To all your Microsoft tree-hugging cnts, who associates us with mindless bots, they say: "Know thy fkn enemy". First of all:Microsoft has opted not to provide a codename (like NT, XP or Vista) to their latest abomination, for reasons still unknown. Little did they know (myself included) that the community will suck this up in a very confusing way, as proved by several of your comments. Their latest release will be known as Windows 7, for there are 7 major releases of the kernel, not because there are 6 (yes, six not seven) editions or personalities thereof. See wikipedia (link below) for more info on this. Just before you get your panties in a twist, again, the version number of the current Windows 7 is 6.1.7000. I assume this to be due to the fact that it is still a beta release, and perhaps they will bump this up to 7.0.0000 on the final release. But, hey, only time will tell. If you still can't wrap your mind around this, open a command window (that will be "CMD" from "Start", "Run...") and type VER followed by enter. Wholla, the version number of the kernel of your current OS.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows#Timeline_of_r ...Second:For those clever boytjies who prefer to stick to XP, well done. You will be impressed to know that XP STILL kicks butt, as it is on average 2x as fast as Vista and 1.6x as fast as 7. For myself, who incidentally are forced to work on Windows, it is a no-brainer.http://www.infoworld.com/article/08/11/10/46TC-win ...
I love the fact that the starter version will be completely crippled. We don't have to worry about anyone destroying Microsoft, because they're slowly destroying themselves... I would love to see a lawsuit when Joe finds out that his crippleware copy of Windows artificially refuses to support the proper resolution for his new monitor! So tell me... does the 3 application limit mean you can run antivirus, antimalware, and one real (productive) program? This is a disaster waiting to happen and I'll enjoy watching watching every minute of it!
bbq .. i completely agree... People that don't know what they are talking about are the people that give wrong information and mess everything up.. or people that can't read or figure things out for themselves.. and I also have to agree with the rest of you. It just shows that most people dont know what they are talking about and go for the easy way out .. Laterz

Technically, Mac OS X has two versions, same as Windows 2000...Client and Server
