I think this is a GREAT move and I firmly believe Steve Jobs should get on the bandwagon too.I'm also behind renaming podcasts but definately not to blogcasting. Podcasts should be renamed because I can't think of one average computer user who understands that it's NOT iPodcasting. What can you say, the masses are idiots. It has more to do with usability than power struggles.
I would say that Live Bookmarks is a more acceptible renaming of RSS feeds than Web Feeds is. Web Feeds may confuse others into thinking that a single feed can handle all the content from multiple sources, simply because of the all encompasing word "Web" in the term. People know what bookmarks are, or favorites for the IE crowd, so renaming them Live Bookmarks or Live Favorites could, potentially be better in the long run. That way, people will know they're essentially the same as a bookmark or favorite, but they update themselves as the content of the page they bookmark changes. Having the word Web in the term makes it really, really broad. And as for explaining RSS feeds to people, I've done it several times with several less than tech savvy people, and they've all had no problem understanding the concept. I simply tell them to think of it as a website bookmark that actually updates itslef when the content of the page it bookmarks changes, so they can more easily see if any changes have been made, and if so, what they are, without having to actually go to the page all the time. No changes? No need to go to the page then.

Why are you firefox fanboys so scared of this if they're doing it in IE7? If Firefox is better, wont everyone use Firefox instead?

Firefox calls them live bookmarks. Asa Dotzler supports not calling it RSS. So shut the hell up, this is a non-news item.
