I'm a Windows user thanks. You dont have to be a fanboy for any OS to see what Microsoft is doing. This is the same tactic they used at my University by giving Office away to students for $5. They're not being generous. They're furthering their monopoly.

@Srg13, you are correct. GRUB for whatever reason decided to change the MBR on both hard drives. The only solution given to me by the Ubuntu forum people was to format the partition and re-install... instead I just deleted the Ubuntu partition, got rid of that GRUB crap and lived happily with windows. But I still lost everything I had on both of those partitions :(

This is nothing but self-interest. When Microsoft ever give anything it's because they have calculated they will get much more back in return. This is all about getting and keeping "share". As Ballmer said recently:"You can always take share -- especially in a down economy, that's the time to take share," he said.Share, he said later, "is the one thing we can absolutely control."<a class="user" href="http://www.informationweek.com/blog/main/archives/2009/02/decoding_steve.html">http://www.informationweek.com/blog/main/archives/ ...</a>.
