boycottnovell.com — Novell has turned their downstream build system at OO-Build into a fork of OpenOffice.org into which they are pushing Microsoft’s OOXML support and in which they make improvements to OO.o which aren’t often upstreamed to the main project.

there is nothing wrong with forks. they just let people play with modifications that the mainline does not want. if any of the modifications are good they can be absorbed back into the mainline. for example GCC and EGCS or have a look at how the linux kernel is developed. This is how opensource software works.

Looking forward to patent laden Novell "enhancements".Novell has stopped being a FOSS company and will just do anything in its power to represent itself as a "protected" version of Linux. Just the firing of so much of its staff to support Mono development is proof of this.
