Ironically, if they hadn't released said patches people would be bitching because "MS isn't serious about security" or "Microsoft doesn't want to fix their stuff".Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

apple doesn't charge for updates, only upgrades to the next version of the os-- and they cost $120-$130, same as windows.

What new features came in either service pack for XP? They were bug fixes and minor improvements to configuring the system.
