junkam.tripod.com — On Tuesday Microsoft will make Windows Genuine Advantage more intrusive and will use scare tactics to make users validate and purchase a legal copy. You will start getting nag screen every hour until you validate your copy.

If you read the CNet article it also mentions MS is going to start doing a Office genuine advantage. I know a lot of people who come in to get their computer's fix that have had office installed by their "friends."

no, you'll have to shell out at least 500 for a mac mini with os x.

I didn't read any speculation of that sort. Quote from the article: "However there are good news for those who still don?t wish to validate their copy (and no it is not GEICO). There is a way for users to turn off the notifier...", so I don't know what you are basing your argument about

So the game companies that put Securerom and other forms of antipiracy software on thier Games are doing it just because they can? Actually I think Microsft is doing it because too many people are stealing thier software.Microsoft has its problems, but untill you can write your own operating system, you have 2 options:1) use a free OS such as Linux (and suffer not being able to play games)2) Pony up and buy a legit copy.-- omitted 3rd option -- Use an illeagal copy. ( in which case you have no right to bitch about anything they do.)

Are you prepared to deal with all the Linux Noobs saying "Isn't there something I can just click on" "You mean I have to type this command exactly? doesn't the computer know what I mean?"On a side note, those of you with HDD problems, just get a copy of Ghost or similar disk cloneing software, and problem solved. A hard-drive change is not a big enough hardware change to cause the validation to throw a fit. It's the fact that your doing a new clean install that throws the flag. (what happened to the complete install on the other drive?)I too would love to see how many people tried to pirate windows if they had it format your drive if they discovered it was ilegitamate.

When's the last time you ran WPA_kill? Lately, I've found that it no longer passes muster with WGA.

It should. But I am sure they know that if they did that, the Crackers would just create crack that fixed that.

Redhat Fedora is Free and in Many Cases Works Better Than XP

Everyone hears this all the time: Use OSX, use Linux, better than XP, etc.But for PC gamers that's not even an option: XP, DirectX, or nothing.Microsoft owns the gaming community, and we have no OS options. Also, new WGA bybass news. There product controls the world. They're like the phone, water, power, and cable company all in one. They don't care that they waste people time and money. I spent an hour and forty five minutes on the phone with an Indian woman who i could barely understand. My Legal!, copy of windows would not pass WGA. I'm a system builder, I have had this full install copy for 6 years and every time i upgrade my computer i end up on the phone with some Indian for an hour or two. Now its worse with WGA, They do this so someone like me will just say screw it and go buy vista or try to find another copy of xp which is tough to find these days. don't give my this ( its there product crap ), I bought it, its legal its mine. They are just trying to milk all the fat cows out there, people are so easily herded ya know. and all the uncle toms out there who are apologists for Microsoft can stick it.

furthermore it would be easier to just hack it then to go through the trouble of spending your saturday morning on the phone with an indian.
