mcvuk.com — "Microsoft's Robbie Bach has revealed that the firm’s current priority is bringing the Xbox 360’s hardware costs down – and believes that Sony won’t be able to compete when it cuts the console's retail price. "

If there's a 360 price cut, I wonder if it would carry over to the multitude of 360 deals that are consistently ongoing... When you're starting to see more and more $300 360s pop up online, you have to wonder if those prices would just stay the same, even after a reduction of MSRP.

@ evilizorDo you have a computer monitor? If so Microsoft has a $40 dollar VGA HD cable to attach the 360 to your monitor. Here is the link to it:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B6MLTG/002-0709884-8671264

@ deslockSorry to disagree with you but the current best deal is a $100 dollar rebate on the core or the premium system from MicroCenter. Only problem is you have to pick it up from a retail store and they are not located everywhere like a Circuit City or Best Buy. Also, it expires 12/03/06. Link coming up:http://www.microcenter.com/rebates/rebate_list.phtml?sku=892778

It's was always MS' gameplan not to compete on technology but on pricing - just like gameCube had to sell cheaper because it coudn't match up technologically - MS was first out the gate but is now behind the technology curve - plus they have to catch up to the lost momentum of taking an entire year just to sell 7 million XBox 360's ... at least they spent all that time and server technology to go use to launch the TV store ... not sure why MS fanboys are shocked it didn't work correctly or more correctly - at all - how many more chances do they give MS?And so much for the XBox is profitable theory - another $10 billion dollars down the drain to buy a 3rd or 6th place market position? MS Xbox - the Atari of the 21 century?

Pure speculation on pricing. Nothing confirmed here except the obvious -- MS is looking to cut costs to remain competitive. Join the club.

Those quotes only CONFIRM that a cut will eventually happen. Duh. Not before January 1 though. I'd imagine one will occur around 2Q07 after the PS3 has finally launched in Europe.
