thetanooki.com — The latest Play issue pretty much confirms that the motion controls for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will be amazing. The controls work better than typical dual analog schemes, back tracking works much better than in the other MP games, and MP3: Corruption could be "the biggest revolution in FPS gaming since Halo."

It WAS the first FPS to use the dual analog sticks, but thats pretty much it. It's not like EVERY FPS that followed (on a console) didn't use the same scheme or anything... pfft.

Alright, this article is about Metoid Prime 3, not about Halo, I think the only thing the writer is trying to say is that he thinks Metroid Prime 3 will be a big step in console FPS games. I personally like both the keyboard and mouse and the dual sticks, so I really hope that Nintendo's motion controls are somewhere in between. For movement a PC fan has to admit that an analog stick is better to regulate speed, and the dual stick fans have to admit a mouse is much better at aiming, so if this game can give you mouse like precision and thumb stick movement, I'm thinking it just could be revolutionary. Will it kill either other control scheme for me if it is good? NO, If I like a game enough I will adjust to the controls to play it be it dual stick, mouse & keyboard, or wii remote and nun chuck. By the way, Halo took all of what had been done on console FPS and brought it together with dual analogs and online play. I would say for its time it was revolutionary, but the thing I like about it most was definitely the fluid nonexistent load times. Metroid games didn't have load times really either, but they had really small rooms, which I didn't like that much, don't get me wrong, I loved the Metroid Prime series though and can't wait till 3

Now that the wii is selling so much and taking ove the world, people who never had a chance to play MP series will now, and I think MP3 will be huge.

No one can win this argument because it depends so heavily on your prior experience. I think we can all agree that Halo was revolutionary FOR SOME PEOPLE. Those are people who hadn't played all the PC-based FPS games that preceded it. But if you were a strict console game player, and the last awesome FPS you played was Goldeneye, Halo was pretty mindblowing.Edit: I forgot to throw in that I'm a huge fan of both Halo and Metroid Prime, and looking forward to the latest iteration of each.

Most people don't understand why metroid prime revolutionized the game because most of these halo fans haven't played super metroid and prime, or just played super metroid not prime. You'd be amazed at what they did to super metroid to make it into prime and even more. Jumping is one of the important factors of super metroid and they translated it perfectly (well, pretty close) in prime. And the shooting, the MUSIC, ohh the haunting music, everything is so well put together that it makes halo look like s**t. Xbox players will always defend halo, not because it's the best but that's the bext example they have. Wait it bioshock, now that's more like a real game.

dude you're kidding or you're too young, to understand this you must play super metroid rom on snes emulator on your pc or buy it on virtual console when it comes out. There are 4 beams, regular beam, ice, wave, plasma. You can have ice + wave, or wave + plasma or any other combination and each has it's own hold down charge system that looks cool. This probably isn't the best explanation but that's why you need to play super metroid, the greatest game ever.

This is an older thread but i had to say something about Halo. The game was fun but other then that it blew. it was a typical FPS for dummies, and i blew throught the game like no tomorrow. Halo, Halo 2, and Halo3 are pretty much identical giver or take weapons or actions you can do. microsoft has a market on the game, and they are milking it and the control was okay, but not the best.I hate most FPS games a side from GoldenEye (best FPS for me, ever) for N64, Doom, Quake and a few others like F.E.A.R.- but prime is not a typical FPS and never has been. FPS is point, shoot, run to the next zone/area. Prime is an FPA for me. First person Adventure and prime 3 is amazing. The controls are unlike any first person game or shooter i have ever played.
