twinpeaks.dyndns.org — A French research Team (In Situ) has been working over the last few years on Metisse, an experimental Window Manager aimed at testing new interaction schemes. Metisse got integrated in Mandriva and is now available on a Live CD based on Mandriva 2007.0 and GNOME.Even if it uses 3D, it's for usability unlike desktops with only esthetic effects.

Too bad we aren't talking about a game. If we were, you might have a point.And of course you can use Anisotropic filtering on 3d windows out of the box. Anyone with the slightest knowledge of linux and 3d would know this.

I think Metisse is much better. Having all your desktops on a plane, and being able to interact with all of them at the same time is much easier than spinning that cube until you get dizzy.

useless crap! Who would want to copy text with a couple of clicks when it can be done with a coupla shortcuts? Whats with all the folding windows and turning it uspide down s**t? Are they like nuts?
