blog.wired.com — Metallica, whose leaked album Death Magnetic is coming out on September 12, launched a promotion on YouTube today that features the band's favorite covers of their songs that have been uploaded to the site. Drummer Lars Ulrich introduces their selections, apparently made over a two day period, in the video to the right.

And the internet music sharing ultimately ruined the recording industry--clearly a reciprocal relationship.

Hilarious ...did you "thumb down" my reply to your reply? Are you an infant or something? Were you even born when Puppets came out? Go buy/rent/download a copy of Cliff 'Em All. Watch the video. Then, after you've seen James get a small club crowd chanting "metal up your ass" before tearing through No Remorse, come back and try to tell me they've still got it today.

I didn't violate the rights of the American people to be an RIAA schill, and a money grubbing whore... I also didn't help start a terrorist war against the American people by using the court system that is supposed to protect them, so I have NO BETRAYAL AND GUILT to overcome by divesting every penny I've made.Metallica DID, and DOES!That said, I HAVE donated to the EFF.

And Metallica is solely responsible for this? THEY paid all the RIAA/MPAA's lobbiests right out of their own pocket apparently. Remember the discussion here is Metallica, I have no argument with the fact that lobbiest from these industries have way too much pull, but to blame it all on ONE BAND that has even brought up the subject in the past 6 years is a little foolish.

I'm all about the new album. Like QuimbyDogg I've generally liked everything they've put out. Even their "lousy s**t."Their music is incredible through and through. And they always put on an amazing live show.

Metallica sucks. They've sucked ever since they cut off all their hair, attacked their fans, and forgot who they were.
