We do want to protect environment, but being pro big government control in reality hurts the environment. We should not believe government's propaganda.Where the enviromnment was most hurt? In former Eastern Europe, where was under total environmental control by the government or in Western Europe with a mix control?
Broad generalizations like "Libertarians have no sympathy for the environment" make you look ignorant. There are many Libertarians who are very pro-environment (I am one), and there are plenty of Democrats and Republicans (and members of other parties) who -- judging by their actions -- couldn't care less about the environment. The difference with the Libertarian view is that government control of the environment is generally worse than private control -- provided, of course, that private control is tempered with responsibility and the basic concept that your rights end where you infringe on the rights of others.
Please don't try to speak for all Libertarians. I for one love the environment. And I definitely don't believe that "peoples rights" are more important than those of plants and animals.

Suing people as a standard means to get clean water sounds like a really efficient government.
