livescience.com— Having a husband creates an extra seven hours of housework each week for women, according to a new study. For men, tying the knot saves an hour of weekly chores.

Women have higher expectations of cleanliness (and men are judged inferior when measured by the female yardstick). Men need rights, too. When we stop judging men by the standards of women, maybe we can give men equal status with women (long live the matriarchy!).
http://glennsacks.com/blog/?p=2022 The findings are part of a detailed study of housework trends, based on 2005 time-diary data from the federally-funded Panel Study of Income Dynamics, conducted since 1968 at the U-M Institute for Social Research (ISR). For the study, researchers analyzed data from time diaries, considered the most accurate way to assess how people spend their time. They supplemented the analysis with data from questionnaires asking both men and women to recall how much time they spent on basic housework in an average week, including time spent cooking, cleaning and doing other basic work around the house. Excluded from these "core" housework hours were tasks like gardening, home repairs, or washing the car.http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2008-04/uom ...Make sure you exclude the jobs men do like HOME REPAIRS and you will be able to make men look bad
Yes, women do live longer than men and we blame the victim in this case.If women lived longer than men, there would be an outcry of 'OPPRESSION', but since men die sonner, little concern comes from the feminist camp

I can see why it is unpopular to cite census data that does NOT make men look bad. Here, we work so hard to make men look bad and you have the nerve to suggest otherwise!
Housework should be inversely proportional to the hours worked in a job and the stress of that job.8 hours in a flourist shop does not equal 8 hours construction, in surgery or on the stock exchange. It equals a fourth. Maybe.
Your comments are full of gender stereotypes... where exactly are you getting your information from? I'd love to see some genuine sources. My mother is a primary school teacher and my father keeps the computers running in a company that produces computer components. Neither of those jobs are particularly flexible. In fact my dad's is more flexible as he can work from home several days a week if he chooses to. How do you decide which is more stressful? I might add that most of my mother's wages go towards various bills and paying the house rent... not to treats for herself. Mental stress should be taken into consideration just as much as physical stress. My mum might not be lifting heavy equipment (nor is my dad) but the stresses a teacher goes through every day are undeniable.
