addons.mozilla.org — IDEVFH has just released his update to the Memory Fox Firefox add-on. This add-on recovers Firefox memory leaks by automatically flushing & recovering fragmented orphaned RAM. It's similar to the AFOM add-on, also by IDEVFH, but includes support for Songbird, iTunes and TweetDeck. I use it and have had excellent results.

well my poor firefox is currently using 1,016,600k and climbing.. I'll give this a try and hope that it fixes the trouble.I love firefox but she's a porker most days.

Yeah, I'm beginning to appreciate that.

when i enable this add-on i notice that, when typing in text boxes on facebook or digg or wherever, it randomly "clicks out" of the text box so that i'm no longer typing a message. also, when i'm reading an article and using the down arrow to scroll it eventually stops scrolling, as if i clicked out of the window. when i disable memory fox the problems go away. i guess it's clearing some memory that i'm using that tells it which field is active. anyway, it's really inconvenient...anyone else having the same problem?

Worked for me. Thanks very much.

Yea I agree Chrome doesn't have the memory footprint I was hoping for but I still have yet to make it use like 2gbs of ram. I did that all the time in Firefox. I love both browsers though. They both have their quirks.

I like it, but instead Mozilla could have it preinstalled/configured in the next update/version.

Memory Fox's purported Memory leak and freeing capabilities are a lie. Memory Fox uses a standard windows function to flush the process's memory to the page file RESULTING IN WORSE PERFORMANCE.
Any windows developer with an ounce of free thought will realise in an instant that the claims made by the extension author are bogus and the experiences of its users are placebo. Firefox's stability and memory use will differ from session to session, and even between reloadings of the same session, and especially differ between Windows sessions.
The only extension which actually effects real memory usage is the ramback extension which flushes the System memory allocated caches.
Anyone seeking to verify this, can enable the Commit column in task manager or use about:memory.
This review will me going viral.
