wired.com — "Apple has an understanding others don't, that there's an interface between people and the packages that happens before you even reach the product," she said. "What kind of experience do you want your customers to have with the package?" Apple's answer is clear: lifelong friendship

"A true Mac geek takes pictures," Harne said. "The more artsy, the more points."...The hell is going on here? Go outside and do something, not sit at home and collect Apple packaging. The kid's a 20 year old college student for god's sake.Good god...

As am I... My sister almost threw out her iBook box! Blasphemy I say! It's now safe in my closet...

I keep the box for two reasons - It's easier to ship or transport when I move (I'm a student, I move almost annually), and when I sell my Apple products I can mention it comes with all the original packaging and materials. Call it silly, but I believe that's helped me get a slightly better price a number of times when selling things on CL or eBay.It probably also helps that the packaging is attractive and generally fairly slim and compact as compared to other manufacturers.

Because it fits so nicely around my mac... If i were to ever move it, or god forbid sell it...It's just not some random box..

I've got all the Mac OS X boxes on my shelf next to my desk, with the exception of 10.3, because I got that with my Mac Mini.

buying Generic PC hardware over the years got me into the habit of throwing everything away. But not after started spending money on quality worthwhile apple products. It is second nature to keep my original packaging, Plus it kinda of pretty to look at on my shelves and is a reminder to appreciate that apple, That is high quality well designed hardware there buck-o, And most likely i have to save to buy it :) If you did happen to purchase a apple product with the line of credit or credit card you are in luck, apple has the best resale period. You wouldn't feel like you got it in the ass after making payments, as you would if buying a dell or some other garbage of the sort.
