stonecipher.typepad.com — McCain and Palin want to insinuate and smear Obama with the brush that is former Weatherman Bill Ayers...But, what of Ayers' last 25 years of active education reform and other notable civic deeds? Since McCain can transform from reckless playboy into "reform" politician, why can't Ayers have a more worthy "second act" to his life, too?

Why do people vote for Obama? Because they like his intelligence, ideas, and leadership abilities. Why do people vote for McCain? Because they've been told (and believe) Obama is the devil. It is incredibly sad that this will be the reasoning in the event McCain becomes president.

RTFA: "Which brings me around to Bill Ayers. John McCain and (apparently more so) Sarah Palin want to paint Ayers as a past "terrorist" against the US…"*PAST* terrorist. So my question remains, if no one is saying he is a CURRENT terrorist, why the misleading title?

Because that's what Palin, McCain and the GOP machine are inferring.

Yes. And the title of the article is REFERRING to what others (palin/mccain) have been saying/insinuating. It's a response to that. But no worries.

What about having secret underground meetings with your compatriots to plan and execute the dumping of an entire shipment of tea into the ocean? Is that something you can be all for? Look, don't mistake my point. I'm not necessarily arguing that Ayers is in the same category as the founding fathers (although, I guarantee that if you asked him how he saw himself at the time, he'd say he was). I'm trying to get you to think about the way you use the word "terrorist". I mean look at you, you're claiming that Ayers convinced his friends to blow themselves up. You mean like a suicide bomber? That's just patently false. Nail bombs to blow up innocents? The weather underground didn't target PEOPLE at all, and the only person to die as a result of their activity was one of their OWN bomb makers who accidentally exploded himself. The weathermen explicitly saw themselves as revolutionaries. Their stated goal was to overthrow the united states government in order to end the war in Viet Nam. The group was an unsuccessful attempt at an armed revolution, and now we call them "terrorists", but I think you are willfully deluding yourself if you refuse to see a distinction between the weathermen, and osama bin laden, or even between the weathermen and Timothy McVeigh.

That's absolutely false -- Bill Ayers was NOT EVER in prison...and, therefore, he DID NOT have to be "released" by Bill Clinton. Talk about having to do some actual reading...
