meebo.com — A functional AJAX IM client that works with the major IM services. Still early, but the goal is to combine the features of Trillian with the availability of AIM express. A great example of a real application built using AJAX. Should be useful for people at work and traveling.

"I have a question: Aren't all web projects basically open source? Is there a way to hide the AJAX source code?"Yes and no, all code sent to the client is, so the Javascript/HTML portion of their code is open, however for most people I think all the interesting stuff happening here is probably the communication being sent by their server to the different IM servers, the AJAX part is essentially just the GUI, which isnt all that useful on its own.It gets my dig because it's a cool idea, but at the same time they have a way to go. The site uses AJAX too much, and so I dont get the feedback that I'm used to, the form on the front page ought to just be a normal form that causes a new page load, because that way I know it's been submitted...

I would laugh if this was just some huge scheme to harvest IM usernames & passwords. If it is, Brilliant!

Tip for the password freaks. CHANGE your password. Then try it and CHANGE it back. It's not that hard people. You should be chaging it regularily anyway. Sheesh.
