Never found a solid use for Twitter. It's not a game changer, as it's own 140 character limit only serves to differentiate itself from a blog, and blogs have been delivering information better and doing it longer than twitter has been around. It's not suited to deliver breaking news, as the media would have you believe happened with the Hudson River plane crash. Yes, many people posted about it on twitter long before any major news outlet reported on it, but none of those twitter posts carried any actual useful information past what people saw that second. No control tower feedback, no interviews, no concrete facts, just what the twitter user thought was going on at the time. No useful information was being delivered until the news outlets picked up the story and started investigating the story, so please tell me again what twitter did to inform the nation? the 5 minutes of "heads up" didn't do anything other than distribute a lot of false information and panic. It's not useful for communication, again, because of the 140 character limit and the fact that it's primarily web based. If I want to send someone a quick message, I'll send a text message. There's no reason for me to have to log into twitter when I already have easier communication methods with people I would be following on twitter. The fact that twitter has trouble finding ways to financially support itself should be telling you just how useful it really is. They can't charge a fee for membership, because most people would stop using it. They can't figure out a way to make a lot of ad revenue because, again, people would stop using it if it were plastered with ads. There are just better, more useful options out there, and it'll only be a matter of time before it's abandoned as a stupid idea (read: Second Life's story)
Hey, remember those few months there where the media was convinced that Second Life was gonna change the way we live and work and interact with each other?Yeah, the media doesn't really know much about technology. It's facebook statuses with a little bird logo. That's it. Just because Shaq uses it doesn't mean it's gonna change information forever, let's all just take a step back and calm down a bit.

I vehemently hate twitter like much of the internet, but it has proved useful for one thing: Quantifying how intellectually devoid Sarah Palin is.

If you want to read what are undoubtedly unpaid interns tweeting as Sarah Palin:http://twitter.com/AKGovSarahPalin
