americanthinker.com — Or Media Credibility Meltdown, Not Icecaps - Eco-warriors and media hype aside, the fact is, as we head into 2009, that the world's ice mass has been expanding not contracting. Which will surprise evening news junkies fed a diet of polar bears floating about on ice floes and snow shelves falling into the oceans.

I'm not going to believe any anti-global-warming articles on a site that produces articles that call Obama "the messiah."

And I thought *I* was dedicated to posting replies. My hat is off to you, sir. *bows*The unfortunate fact is that most science is also political as most scientists work on grants from either a university (which also has grants coming in) or on grants from the government. In either case, presenting ideas unacceptable to the grant giver are likely to result in the scientist losing their position. Politics is more widespread than people believe. Read the book I mentioned. I will warn you that it is written by a map lover and unless you are likewise into maps, you stand a good chance of getting lost at some points. Overall though it is well written and the maps speak for themselves.

Ah Digg, you never cease to amaze me. Calling global climate change a hoax even though it is supported by the overwhelming majority of scientists who study it for a living, all around the world. But no, the laymen know better than these scientists. It's all a hoax meant to get a couple of extra dollars out of your pockets. Yah...that's it.

@rabidDice,Finding people, and find people in a random sample are two different thing. You know for a person asking about margin's of error, you don't seem to know a lot about statistics. If you even look up the organization that did the study you would find that they are funded by conservative organizations! Holy crap! I didn't even know that.

Wherley, you realize, don't you, that the authors of that Nature article include Michael Mann and David Schneider. Mann is the creator of the fictional "hockey stick" temperature curve that Al Gore relied on for his "Inconvenient Truth" lies. The "hockey stick" temperature curve has since been totally discredited as a fiction of Mann's "massaging" the temperature record. And Schneider is the source of the statement, "To capture the public imagination, we have to offer up some scary scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements and little mention of any doubts one might have. This "double ethical bind" we frequently find ourselves in cannot be solved by any formula. Each of us has to decide the right balance between being effective, and being honest."In short, these "scientists" have both discarded the ethics of impartial examination of empirical data in favor of shilling the science of manmade global warming. Reading their articles becomes an exercise in discovering where they've hidden the critical assumptions that allow them to make their AGW pitch this time.
