ndtv.com — McDonalds Corp has finally selected a new trans-fat-free oil for cooking its famous french fries after years of testing. While it has developed a healthier new oil, the company is still not saying when it will be used in all 13,700 US restaurants. It already trails competitors in committing to a zero-trans fat oil.

I saw the other day that the bags at Wendy's were advertising that they were using oil w/o trans fat already.

I can not believe what some of you are writing. Just because YOU do not have enough self control to NOT eat fast food every day does not mean that EVERYONE should be punished. What is next, banning sugar in soda? Is that a good idea? What about sugar in fruit juice, I mean if it is natural then you should be able to drink all you want and not get fat. Oh I just didn't know. What about banning all alcohol because it kills people when they drive. Guess I will go sue the M&M company because I ate too many M&Ms last year and got fat.McDonalds in NOT in the health food business; It is in the FASTFOOD business.Like I said before I go there to get a hamburder. I got to KFC to get fried chicken. I know what I am going to get when I go there and that is why I go there (while it is only maybe at most 5 times a year). Why am I being punished for someone who goes there everyday because they are too lazy to go shopping and make their own food?Like I said EVERYONE know that ANYTHING is ok in MODERATION and too much of something is BAD, let it be oxygen(yes), water(yes), or trans-fats.If you are in a state that does not require to wear you seat-belt do you still wear you seat-belt even though you do not have to? Of course you do, you KNOW without being explisitly told that wearing your seat-belt is a good thing.Way to go people with out self control, I feel like I am in 3rd grade where one person did something bad and it screwed it up for the entire class.

Trans-fat(s) are the tip of the head of a pin on top the the ice burgh of the poison you put in your body at McDonalds, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box or any fast food place these days..

@riverbelowWe Americans may be among the most obese people on earth, but Canadians, Europeans, and now, even Asians are catching up quickly. And, FWIW, the trans-fat issue and obesity aren't the same issue.

Just so you know, Atkins was not killed by his diet.He slipped on a patch on ice and went into a coma. He died of kidney failure.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Atkins_%28nutritionist%29#Death

With trans-fats or no trans-fats in their fries, people that eat McDonald's still deserve obesity and her little friends (i.e., heart disease, type-II diabetes, etcetera).

I still would not eat at mcdonald's ever-as far as in and out burgers-their fries are cooked in cottonseed oil-yes, even though it is not a trans fat oil their fries taste awful...if you want good fries go to a place where they use decent trans fat free oils-ask what they use before you order.
