politico.com — Scott McClellan advises Obama not to investigate the Bush Administration because it could damage Obama's image. If Obama's elected it could blow up into a major issue in unexpected ways, as some foreign governments suggest they'd arrest top Bush administration officials on torture charges.

If confidence is to be restored in the austere entity that claims to be "for the people, by the people", then I would have thought that whoever is elected, their first action should be to repeal any immunities from criminal activity put in place by the previous administration. At that point, it is a matter for the relevant DA(s) to respond to whoever might levy (individual or class action) charges against members of that previous administration. This is provided, of course, justifiable charges can be evidenced....Bush being a "C U Next Tuesday" is a given, but anything else must be demonstrated. Why was there a need for immunities in the first place, if there was no wrong-doing?Talk about guilty acts. And if there was wrong-doing, and it can be demonstrated, then no-one should be beyond the reach of Law.

There's a big difference between uniting the country and allowing crime to run rampant. Criminals are not a legitimate faction to be embraced and assimilated.

Concerned about being charged with war crimes? Like hanging out with ex-Nazis? Move to beautiful Paraguay where your sins are forgiven!http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2006/oct/23/mainse ...

Anyone who was a senator or in congress who did not speak out about torture is just as responsible as the president. We did not vote in a democratic majority so they could sit around and do nothing for two years.
